Our 1st graders and their parents will begin a four-session course on First Communion. This instruction aims to familiarize and help the children feel more comfortable at the Lord’s Table. The families will share Baptism stories, break matzah at a mini-Seder meal, make bread together for Maundy Thursday where the children will be invited to learn about the Table and participate in their first communion. We will complete the last lesson Maundy Thursday, then have dinner and celebrate together before the service. The Sunday instruction time will include lunch and the Thursday session will include dinner. This First Communion instruction isn’t required, but is offered as an opportunity for families to grow together through the promises made at Baptism.
