On the morning of Thursday, June 13, our driveway entrance and was suddenly filled with gushing water from a broken water main at Highway 17. Very quickly, first responders from the Town were on the scene securing the area, and officials from Mt. Pleasant Waterworks were in route. We were amazed at how fast they were able to assess the huge sinkhole and implement a repair plan. We began to watch the heavy equipment arrive and adjusted our Vacation Bible School pickup plan in case our driveway was fully blocked. The work crews and supervisors were able to leave the north side open for entrance and exit until VBS ended. They kept in constant communication with us as to the repair status, and after seven hours of the tedious work, the repairs had been made and our water restored. We received communication at 5:30 pm from the police lieutenant who had managed the traffic control on 17 that all was well and our driveway was ready to use; and almost immediately following, a call from the Waterworks staff that our water was clean and safe to use. We are indeed grateful for the quick and professional response from the Town and the staff of Mt. Pleasant Waterworks.
