POP Tabs for RMHC CHARLESTON

Even the LITTLE things make a BIG difference!

HOW DO THE POP TABS HELP RMHC CHARLESTON?

The tab of an aluminum can is pure aluminum unlike the rest of the can, which contains paint and other residue. Once our pop tab dumpster is full, we take the pop tabs to a local aluminum recycler. According to the price of aluminum at that time and the weight of our tabs, the recycling center gives us a check. The price of aluminum fluctuates anywhere between 35 to 85 cents a pound. This money is used for our general operating expenses meaning it truly helps in keeping our doors open to continue to serve more than 900 families annually.

While the whole can is valuable as a recyclable, RMHC Charleston does not have the storage capacity to collect the whole can. The aluminum tabs are smaller and easier to handle; they are much easier to handle when large volumes are delivered.

Pop off your tops & bring them to church (look for the gray bin with the pop tops inside a teddy bear container) & we will collect them to give to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Charleston

Join our SONlight Leader Team

SONlight is a time designed for children ages 3K-5th grade. Following the Children’s Message, the children are escorted by the volunteer leader to the Joseph room. Once gathered in the classroom, the children enjoy scripture, service and fellowship activities geared to their ages. Children return to their family in the Sanctuary during the Sharing of the Peace.

We offer SONlight on the first Sunday of each month. To lead SONlight, you do not need any special training or supplies, only an open-heart and patience with little ones. Instructions are provided for each day’s activity: sometimes a Celebrate activity sheet geared toward each age group, sometimes a service project and sometimes another activity themed with that day’s lesson/liturgical year.

All adults, young adults, parents, grandparents and empty nesters are encouraged to take part in this special time with our All Saints children. During the 11 service, when there are typically more young children, we will also ask for a youth helper (6th-12th graders) to assist the adult SONlight leader.

Thank you in advance for your support as we all do our part in our church family’s Christian Formation and help in the promises we make at Baptism!

Sinners and Saints Group

Do your first car have a tape deck? Do you remember the AOL dailup tone? Then you might be a great fit for the “Sinners and Saints” group! Formerly categorized as “young adults,” this group is made up of parents and working adults looking for connection and support through this crazy thing called life. Sinners and Saints activities include “Theology on Tap,” Wednesday evening Bible Study, Sunday morning Book Study, and the annual Ugly Sweater party. If you think you might be a sinner and a saint, reach out to Pastor Ginger for more information.
