Volunteers are invited to help with Strengthening Families, a 14-week Lutheran Services Carolinas program designed to build communication and bonding skills between parents and their elementary school-age children. The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) helps families come together and learn parallel lessons. Parents focus on effective parenting and positive discipline techniques while children and youth learn skills needed for success in life. It all starts with a family dinner. The sessions typically last 2½ hours and include parents and children meeting separately to work with group leaders before coming together for shared activities. Local congregations are getting involved in this ministry in a number of ways, including: helping to serve the family meal, and providing desserts for the meals. The congregation is reminded that our Columbarium, for members of our congregation and their families, has niches available to be reserved at any time. The word ‘columbarium’ is derived from the Latin term columba, meaning “dwelling place of a dove.” The dove, of course, has long symbolized in Christian tradition the embodiment of the Holy Spirit. Our Columbarium, located in the Memorial Prayer Garden, offers a sacred space for the inurnment of cremated remains. We encourage anyone who would like to learn more about our Columbarium to pick up informational materials in the corridor leading into the Memorial Prayer Garden, or call the church office.
Volunteers are needed for recording Sunday worship services. You can worship in your regular pew, at your regular service, while helping with the recording. We post the sermon portion of the recordings to our website every week, unless our recording volunteers are away and a recording is not made. Help us build our recording team! The recording is done via an Ipad that is already set-up for you. Specific instructions are provided.
